The Drew Putzel Creative Art Program (DPCAP) provides opportunities for our emerging artists to express themselves creatively and individually, while actively contributing to the local art community. This community integration has benefits far beyond their art exposure, as people with disabilities (especially autism) often face numerous social deficits and barriers to community inclusion. DPCAP serves as a recreational and therapeutic opportunity, while also providing clients with vocational training through a series of creative micro-businesses that operate out of our studio. For many clients, working in our production studio has been a vocational spring-board for the development of their own individual businesses, both art related and otherwise. This also is very crucial as people with disabilities face even greater barriers to meaningful employment.
